The top leadership experts in the world will give us the recipe to success. We just have to listen and execute, and actually the recipe is very simple. It is:
1. Define the lifestyle you want to live
2. Find someone who is living that lifestyle
3. Repeat what they are doing
Sounds simple enough, right? Actually it really is. In your life, you first need to determine what you want your life to look like and what you want to be. We can all dream about the things we want to have, the person we want to be, the professional we want to be, and so on. But, for most of us, all that those things end up being is a dream. To turn those dreams into reality, all you need to do is to find someone who is living the life you want to live, learn from them, and do what they are doing. I am telling you, it is that simple. For some reason, we just like to over complicate things.
Let me give you a perfect example of what I am talking about. It just came out recently that the person who I believe to be the best basketball player to ever play the game, Michael Jordan said that there is only one person in the history of basketball who could beat him one on one in their primes. He said he could be everybody in their prime except this one person. Your airness said he could have beaten Wilt Chamberlain, Lebron James, Magic, Bird, Shaq, Bill Russell, and almost anyone else. He says that the only person who he could not beat one on one was Kobe Bryant, and he said that is because Kobe stole all his moves! Kobe did exactly what leadership experts say we should do.
1. Kobe defined that he wanted to be the best basketball player in the world
2. Kobe found Michael Jordan, who is the best
3. Kobe replicated Jordan’s game
In the sales world, the simple basics remain constant. First, decide that you want to be the best. Second, go find the best. Third, copy what the best is doing. You want to be the best your industry has to offer, this is the starting point.
