A wise woman once told me that “History is a good indicator of what will happen in the future”, and no, it was not my mom! LOL It is so true! If you want to see what your results will be like in the future, look at the past. People are creatures of habit, which leads to habitual behavior. Habitual behavior leads to similar results. This is true in just about every aspect of life. If you want to know what kind of grandparent you will be in the future, look at what kind of parent you are now, or what kind of parent you were in the past. If you want to know how your wife will react to you telling her that you are going out with your friends to watch the football game, look at the way she reacted last time. If you want to know what your sales results will be next year, look at where they were last year or where they are this year. History WILL repeat itself.
There is one exception to this rule however, and that is history will not repeat itself if we make changes to our behavior. This all goes back to Einstein’s definition of insanity: “Doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results.” If we do not change our behavior, history will not change and our results will not change. It is as simple as that. So, if we want to change our results in any part of our life, we must first change our behavior to make that happen. Challenge yourself to better yourself in some area of your life today!
